Here is an simple activity that your child can do with a straw, tempera (or other non-toxic acrylic paint), and construction paper.
Put a few drops of paint on a piece of construction paper, then ask your child to blow the paint around on the paper to make interesting designs. Add different colored paint to create multi-dimenional designs. To add depth, have your child sprinkle (or gently blow) glitter around the page.
Be sure to ask your child questions about his or her design while you’re creating. It will ellicit a whole host of imaginitive thoughts and will allow your child to think critically as well as artistically.
